From 12 October 2026 there are two layers of ATM limits on your wamo account: a cap on cash withdrawals across all your cards combined, and the limits that already apply to each card on its own. A withdrawal has to pass both.
Card purchases are not affected. Only cash withdrawals at ATMs are covered by the new account-level caps.
ATM withdrawal limits for your account
These apply from 12 October 2026 to all cards on your account added together.
Period | Limit across all cards | Resets |
Per day | 3,000 EUR | Every day at 00:00 UTC |
Per week (Monday to Sunday) | 7,000 EUR | Every Monday at 00:00 UTC |
Per calendar month | 9,999 EUR | The 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC |
All resets happen at midnight UTC. That's 01:00 CET in winter and 02:00 CEST in summer (02:00 and 03:00 in Finland).
Withdrawals in other currencies count towards these caps at their euro equivalent, converted at the exchange rate at the moment you withdraw.
Withdrawals since 1 October count. The monthly cap applies to the whole of October 2026, so any cash you withdrew between 1 and 11 October counts towards your 9,999 EUR October limit.
You do not need to do anything. The new caps apply to your account automatically from 12 October 2026.

These limits have not changed. They apply to each card individually and are set by the IBAN your card is linked to.

Virtual cards can't be used to withdraw cash at an ATM. Use a physical card for cash withdrawals.
The per-card ATM limits still apply, but in practice your account caps will usually be reached first. For example, the 9,999 EUR monthly account cap is lower than the 20,000 EUR monthly ATM limit on a single euro card.
How the two sets of limits work together
Every withdrawal is checked against both your account caps and the limits on the card you are using. Whichever limit is reached first is the one that stops the withdrawal.
Two things follow from this that are easy to miss:
A single euro card can withdraw 2,000 EUR in 24 hours, so reaching the 3,000 EUR daily account cap takes more than one card.
The weekly and monthly caps are not multiples of each other. Withdrawing the full 7,000 EUR in one week leaves 2,999 EUR for the rest of that calendar month.
Worked example. Your business withdraws 7,000 EUR during the first week of November, spread across two cards. In the second week you can withdraw 2,999 EUR, and that is the end of your cash withdrawals until 1 December at 00:00 UTC, even though the weekly cap resets on the Monday.
If your business needs regular access to cash at this scale, a transfer is usually the better route. See [Link: Global transfers and payments].
Why was my ATM withdrawal declined?
Work through these in order.
1. Check how much cash has been withdrawn across all your cards today, this week and this calendar month. The account caps count every card together, including cards held by your team. Remember that the periods reset at 00:00 UTC.
2. Check the amount against the limits on the individual card you are using.
3. Check that the ATM itself is not applying its own, lower limit. Many ATMs cap a single withdrawal regardless of your card.
4. Check that you're using a physical card. Virtual cards can't withdraw cash.
5. Check that your card is not frozen and that there are sufficient funds in the linked sub-account.
If none of these explains the decline, contact us at support@wamo.io or through the in-app chat with the date, time, amount and the last four digits of the card. See also [Link: Troubleshooting and card security].
Frequently asked questions
Do the new caps affect card purchases?
No. Retail spending is unchanged and is still governed by the limits on each card.
Do the caps apply per card or per account?
The daily, weekly and monthly ATM caps apply to your whole account, across every card on it. The per-card tables apply to each card on its own.
When do my limits reset?
The daily cap resets every day at 00:00 UTC, the weekly cap every Monday at 00:00 UTC, and the monthly cap on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC.
Do withdrawals I made before 12 October count?
Yes, for October only. Cash withdrawn from 1 October 2026 counts towards the October monthly cap of 9,999 EUR.
I withdrew cash in a currency other than euro. How is it counted?
It's converted to euro at the exchange rate at the moment of the withdrawal, and that amount counts against the same account caps.
Can I withdraw cash with a virtual card?
No. Virtual cards can't be used at ATMs. Cash withdrawals need a physical card.
Is this the same as my free ATM allowance?
No. Your free ATM withdrawal allowance is about fees — how much you can withdraw before a fee applies. The caps on this page are about the maximum you can withdraw at all. See [Link: How much do wamo cards cost?].
Does a failed withdrawal count towards my limits?
No. If a withdrawal fails and no cash is dispensed, it doesn't count towards your daily, weekly or monthly caps.
